Farmers National Bank Breaks Ground on Cranberry Site

Farmers National Bank officials dug in Tuesday at the site of the new bank at the intersection of Route 19 and Ogleview Drive in Cranberry.

"it's been a long time coming," Jen Roxbury, chief operating officer of Farmers Bank, said of opening a branch in Cranberry. "We've been trying to get in here for quite some time."

The Farmers Bank, which will include a drive-through teller's window and extensive landscaping, will be the fourth Farmers Bank branch in Butler County and the first in Cranberry.

The bank replaces the former Cranberry Veterinary Hospital, which was demolished Monday.

Along with Cranberry Township manager Jerry Andree, Butler County commissioners Bill McCarrier and Dale Pinkerton attended Tuesday's groundbreaking ceremony.

The former veterinary hospital, which closed earlier this year, was opened in 1971 by Dr. Gunther Lil.

Lil told Patch he planned to downscale his practice into a house call service.

Roxbury said the Farmers Bank could be open by early 2014.
