Red Cross Honors Cranberry Lifeguards For Saving Boy's Life

American Red Cross of Southwestern Pennsylvania has honored four Cranberry lifeguards who saved a boy's life last summer.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA — The American Red Cross Southwestern Pennsylvania has honored four lifeguards who saved a 12-year-old from drowning at the township water park last summer.

Lifeguards Greta Schmidt, Olivia Schzure, Garrett Shreve, and Paige Welch utilized skills learned in an American Red Cross Training Services course to help save the boy’s life. They were trained and consistently coached of proper methods by David Hutner, Cranberry’s recreation program manager, and a Red Cross instructor.

Jorge Martinez, American Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania CEO and executive director of the American Red Cross Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter, presented the lifeguards with a Red Cross certificate, citation, and lapel pin.
