4 Billionth Piece Of Mail Delivered To Delaware County In 2024 Holiday Season
Maria Rico of Haverford was the recipient of the United States Postal Service's 4 billionth piece of mail in the 2024 holiday season.

HAVERFORD, PA — On Friday, the United States Postal Service delivered its 4 billionth piece of the 2024 holiday season, and that piece of mail was delivered right here in Delaware County.
Maria Rico, who lives on Llanalew Road in Haverford, was the recipient of the landmark delivery, according to the United States Postal Service (USPS).
Haverford letter carrier Linda Pitts, a 23-year postal employee, delivered the 4 billionth seasonal package to Rico Friday.

"Under the Delivering for America Plan, it’s all about timely delivery," USPS spokesman Paul Smith said. "We continue to urge our customers to mail early – Dec. 18 for Ground Advantage and Dec. 19 for Priority Mail."
The USPS has increased its daily processing capacity to approximately 60 million, and hired 7,500 seasonal employees.
