5 Haverford, Havertown Nonprofits To Support This Holiday Season

With the giving season nearly here, Patch readers should check out some of these local non-profit groups while considering local donations.

HAVERFORD-HAVERTOWN, PA — If you’re like many of your Haverford- and Havertown-area neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.

Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.

Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the Haverford and Havertown areas.

Here are five local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:

  1. Haverford Township Education Foundation — The raises funds and provides grants for innovative learning opportunities for students within the Haverford Township School District to enhance the district’s curriculum and extracurricular activities.
  2. American Legion Post 667, Post 338 — The American Legion advocates for the unique needs of every generation of veterans, service members, and their families.
  3. Kelly Music for Life, Inc. — Kelly Music for Life events fund grants for the benefit of music education, child development, senior citizens and many community initiatives.
  4. St. James United Church of Christ Food Pantry — The St. James Food Pantry provides opportunities for individuals, groups, organizations and companies to contribute to our food pantry, and a chance for those who need food to get groceries.
  5. Haverford Township Historical Society — The historical society works to protect, preserve and promote the history of the community and to sustain its cultural heritage.
