Discover Haverford Celebrates 15 Years of Growth and Community Impact at Sip & Savor Soiree
Havertown, PA – On Friday, April 25th, Discover Haverford will mark a significant milestone—its 15th anniversary—by hosting a festive Sip & Savor Soiree at Brick & Brew in Havertown. This special event will not only celebrate the organization's remarkable growth but also recognize several standout individuals and businesses with its 2025 Awards of Excellence. The event is presented by A. Martinelli & Sons and Turnerstone.
Founded in 2009 as the Haverford Partnership for Economic Development, Discover Haverford is a dynamic collaboration between Haverford Township, local business and property owners, and Township residents. In honor of its anniversary, Discover Haverford will celebrate its many achievements, including the revitalization of business districts and the installation of enhancements like planters, gardens, fountains, benches, and signage throughout the Township. A key contributor to this success has been the matching façade grants offered to local businesses, which have sparked a wave of transformation across Haverford Township.
"The transformation in Haverford Township over the past 15 years has been remarkable," said Jon Druhan, Board President of Discover Haverford. "The Township has emerged with renewed energy and a fresh look, and Discover Haverford has been an integral part of these changes."

Jeanne Angell, Executive Director of Discover Haverford, echoed this sentiment. "There’s always been something special about Haverford Township—the close-knit neighborhoods, the strong sense of civic engagement, and the family-centered culture. Now, with renovated public spaces and the rise of new businesses, Haverford is an even better place to live, work, and run a business."
During the Sip & Savor Soiree, Discover Haverford will honor several local businesses and civic leaders with its prestigious 2025 Awards of Excellence. "An exciting part of the evening will be presenting our Awards of Excellence," said Haverford Township commissioner and event co-chair Judy Trombetta. "It is always a joy to shed light on our amazing civic leaders and businesses!"
The prestigious Donald Kelly Award for Civic Engagement will be presented to Chris Whiting, a dedicated volunteer whose efforts have made a lasting impact on the Township. Whiting’s involvement spans multiple organizations, including the Haverford Township Civic Council, Beechwood Civic Association, Haverford Township Historical Society, and more. “I am so honored to be selected for this award,” said Whiting. “It’s been a pleasure to work alongside so many volunteers who are passionate about improving our community.”
Nolan Painting will receive the Community Champion Award, given to a business that has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the community. Nolan Painting's “Nolan in the Neighborhood” initiative has contributed over a million dollars to charitable causes and supports local events like blood drives, charity runs, and trail adoption efforts. "Being recognized as a Community Champion in our hometown of Havertown is truly meaningful to us,” said Jon Meyer, President and CEO of Nolan Painting.
In addition, Discover Haverford will introduce its new Business Innovation Award, which will go to Plant Roots/The Bookery Coffeehouse for its strong partnerships with other local businesses and unique community events like its outdoor Flora gatherings, which combine food, drinks, live music, and shopping.
The Eye-Catching Award will be presented to Centrella’s Deli for its outstanding façade renovations, which have positively impacted the surrounding business district. “When one business invests in improving its appearance, it can inspire others to do the same, leading to a ripple effect of revitalization,” explained Don Kelly, chair of Discover Haverford’s Windows & Façades Committee.
JD McGillicuddy’s, a beloved local establishment in the Brookline business district, will receive the Standing Ovation Award, chosen by popular vote for its exceptional customer service, inviting atmosphere, and strong community engagement.
The Sip & Savor Soiree promises to be an unforgettable evening, with a light dinner, an open bar, and a special cocktail sponsored by Charles B. Gans Plumbing, Heating & AC. Attendees will also enjoy a photobooth courtesy of M&D CleanStart, a DJ sponsored by Drexelbrook/Holiday Inn, and dessert provided by Payroll Vault Mainline.
