Discover Haverford Presents Workshop on Successfully Working from Home

"Working from Home Essentials" Workshop to Feature Panel Discussion

Discover Haverford has announced a new workshop aimed at entrepreneurs and employees who work from home.

This free workshop, “Working from Home Essentials,” will feature five Haverford Township panelists who work from home, either running their own businesses or working remotely as part of a larger organization. Discover Haverford Executive Director Jeanne Angell notes, “While most of our work focuses on businesses in our business districts, there are a growing number of residents who are working from home. Many of those residents connect with Discover Haverford by participating in our networking events, attending our workshops, using our business resources on-line, being an event vendor, or becoming sponsors.”

The workshop will be held on October 24th at 7:00pm at the Community Recreation & Environmental Center in Haverford. Moderated by Discover Haverford, the panel includes Sherrie Jenkins of Preservation Pix, JoAnn Meyer of runstrong, Nicole Bruno of Cargill, Jeff Miller of Jacobs Engineering and Meg McKernan of The Dimes Club.

The panelists will discuss the benefits and challenges of successfully working from home. The workshop is for people who are new to working from home or for those who have been doing it for a while and are looking for tips, new ideas and resources. Topics will include navigating communication with colleagues and clients, avoiding distractions and interruptions, setting up a functional workspace, and finding work-life balance. Attendees are encouraged to come with questions and share their personal experiences with working from home.

Discover Haverford offers support for businesses that would like to open in the Township, including materials about demographics, market research, consumer surveys, and a listing of available properties on their Discover Haverford website in the “Doing Business” section. New businesses are offered assistance with ribbon cuttings and grand opening events and are profiled in their monthly newsletter.
