Free Shade Trees Available For Haverford Township Residents

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — Haverford Township residents can sign up to get free shade or flowering trees for their properties.

Haverford Township’s Shade Tree Commission is distributing 100 trees to residents.

Available are 60 shade trees and 40 flowering trees.

Trees are being made available through a lottery system.

Below are the lottery rules:

• The Tree Lottery is only open to Haverford Township Residents.
• One Lottery entry is permitted per household.
• When you enter, you may select up to 3 different tree species of your preference, which you must rank in order (#1, #2 and #3). You cannot rank the same species more than once.
• If entering 3 preferences, be sure to include at least one shade tree in your preferences.
• If you win your 1st choice, you will receive that tree. If you don't win your 1st choice, you will be entered into the next round of the Lottery for your 2nd choice, and so on.
• Your chances of winning a tree are greatest if you provide the full 3 preferences.
• All winners will be randomly drawn from entries received.
• Share the joy
  • Enter only if you are committed to planting and caring for your tree on your property.
  • Please do not enter the lottery if you received a Township Giveaway Tree in the past 12 months.
• Winners must plant the tree at their address in Haverford Township.

The entry deadline is 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 and winners will be chosen on Friday, Oct. 28.

Winners will be contacted via email by the Shade Tree Commission on Monday, Oct. 31 with the time slot of your tree pick up.

Tree pick-up will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Township Building Lower Parking Lot.
