More PennDOT Work to Impact I-476 Traffic In Delco, Montco Next Week
Lane closures will affect traffic on sections of Interstate 476 in Delaware and Montgomery counties Aug. 11 through Aug. 22, PennDOT said.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Ongoing PennDOT work will again force lane closures on Interstate 476 in Delaware and Montgomery counties during the overnight hours.
Crews will be working on Intelligent Transportation Systems improvements at night Monday through Aug. 22 on I-476 under a $63.7 million project to resurface, repair and improve nearly 17 miles of the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps, and bridges from I-95 in Ridley Township to Interstate 76 in West Conshohocken Borough.
Drivers will encounter lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weeknights at one or more of the following locations:

- Northbound I-476 between the U.S. 1 Interchange (Exit 5) and the Springfield Road overpass.
- Southbound I-476 between the Marple Road overpass and the Route 3 (West Chester Pike) Interchange.
- Southbound I-476 between the U.S. 1 Interchange (Exit 5) and the Beatty Road overpass.
- Northbound and southbound I-476 between the Rogers Lane overpass and the U.S. 1 Interchange (Exit 5).
- Northbound I-476 between Germantown Pike East/Plymouth Meeting (Exit 19) and Germantown Pike – West/Plymouth Road (Exit 20).
- U.S. 30 West (Lancaster Avenue) between Route 320 (Sproul Road) and the I-476 overpass.
- Northbound and southbound I-476 ramps to U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue).
- Southbound I-476 ramp to Route 3 (West Chester Pike).
- Northbound I-476 ramp to Baltimore Pike (Exit 3).
- U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) ramps to northbound and southbound I-476.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur.

All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Under this project, crews will mill and overlay I-476 travel lanes and shoulders in both directions; perform repairs on 49 structures; improve 21 stormwater management basins to address existing rock slope stabilization issues; repair existing sound walls; replace inlets at select locations; and install new pavement markings, delineators, rumble strips, signage, guiderail, and ITS upgrades.
