When you workout to tone and build muscle you may actually GAIN a little weight from strength training. Muscle is about 70% water. When you workout and build muscle ( which is part of toning) your muscle cells will store more carbohydrates and protein. This is good. It’s what gives the muscles shape and definition, but it also causes the muscles to store more water. This allows you to be more fit ,toned and explosive but it can lead to a little weight gain. However muscle is more dense then fat. So if the muscles are getting bigger and fat cells are getting smaller you will almost always lose inches and shape up even though the scale may lead you to think otherwise.
