The Hatboro Little League said the fee is needed to maintain the league's baseball fields. Those volunteering two hours will be reimbursed.

A $75 volunteer fee will be added to every registration starting this season but all it takes to get that $75 refunded is two hours of volunteering, organizers said.

"Other leagues have had this policy for a while, we have avoided it but are at the point where without more help, we will have to outsource some of the maintenance of our complex and fields," organizers said on the league's Facebook post.

Signups will be available in late February in coordination with a calendar of important dates on the website.

Residents can sign up to help work on fields and game days or serve as umpires, managers, coaches, or other roles and receive the $75 fee back.

"Two hours may not seem like much but many hands make light work and help us maintain a nice place for our kids to enjoy and call home," organizers said.

Residents should sign up all their children at once to qualify for the multi-player discounts. This ensures the $75 fee only gets charged one time and not per player.

After registration passes on Feb. 17, a late fee will apply and players will only be accepted to fill in spots available on teams.

With shipping and supply delays, organizers need to place orders for uniforms before March.

Anyone with questions should reach out to the organization.
