HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — The Horsham Township Police Department is mourning the loss of a K9 Banner, who gave his service to the community for several years.

Horsham Veterinary Hospital announced that K9 Banner passed peacefully on Oct.2 in the arms of his handler, Police Officer Andrew D'Arcy and his wife.

K9 Banner was born on Feb. 23, 2014, in the Czech Republic. At age 2, the police dog partnered with D'Arcy, where both completed training at Tarheel K9 in North Carolina together.

In his final week of service, K9 Banner located a burglar inside the home of an employee of the veterinary hospital, "a true testament to his dedication until the very end."

"Beyond his accomplishments in law enforcement, Banner was more than a K9 officer. He was a cherished member of the D'Arcy family, where he was deeply loved by three young boys, the hospital said. "K9 Banner — Thank you for your service, courage, and loyalty. You will be missed and always be remembered."
