Gamburg's Furniture Store Patch Poll Results In
Patch polled people on what should replace the iconic Hatboro retail property that closed two years ago.

HATBORO BOROUGH, PA — While the closed Gamburg's Furniture Store property awaits its fate, Patch gave readers the chance to cast votes on how it should be developed in the future.
A Patch poll question asked readers what should replace the iconic York Road business district retailer, which closed two years ago after its owners decided to retire.
Readers had four answers to choose from: A retail center, apartments, a restaurant, or a sports bar.

Patch received votes from 230 people.

Of those votes, a retail center came out on top with 120 votes (52.17 percent).
In second place was a restaurant with 54 votes (23.48 percent) followed by a sports bar with 38 votes (16.52 percent).
Another luxury apartment complex received 18 votes (7.83 percent).
Just down the road, the longtime vacant CVS store has been transformed into the borough's first apartment complex under its Town Center Ordinance.
Meanwhile, along North York Road, construction on the second apartment complex is progressing at an impressive pace.
Gamburg's announced it was closing for good in August 2023 due to its owners' retirement. The property's development future is unknown at this time, and its owners have not sold the property.
The building is now covered with murals to eliminate it as an eyesore for residents attending downtown business events.
