HATBORO / HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — Can you believe the new school year is almost upon us? As we squeeze out the last weeks of summer before Labor Day, we highlight some news nuggets that don't typically receive major story coverage in Hatboro and Horsham Township.

Did You Know?

  • The Loller Clock at the Loller Academy, a bell dating to 1809, was made by Isaiah Lukens Clock Hatboro, a Horsham Resident. Local historians share that the clock is the twin of the original clock located in Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Hatboro officials recently shared.
  • The 1.5-square-mile borough is home to the third-oldest library. The Union Library of Hatborough, founded in 1755, is the third-oldest library in Pennsylvania. For more information about the library, visit www.hatborolibrary.org.

Meals On Wheels

Do you know that Bux Mont Meals on Wheels uses the Pennypack Community Center in Hatboro on Monday through Friday to prepare meals for the elderly that are delivered by dedicated volunteers. Bux-Mont Meals on Wheels is a non-profit organization that provides nutritious meals to the Borough of Hatboro, Horsham, Upper Moreland, Warminster, and surrounding communities.

September Community Book Sale

The Horsham Township Library will hold a community book sale at 435 Babylon Road from Tuesday-Friday, Sept. 16-19, in the community room.

  • Tuesday, Sept. 16 – Member Preview Night Only | 6:30–8:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 17-18 – Regular Sale Days (During library hrs)
  • Friday, Sept. 19 – Final Day! (During library hrs)
  • No Saturday sale hours.

Hatboro Fire Marshal Kate Valesky has received another shipment of smoke detectors courtesy of the American Red Cross. You can contact Kate for a smoke detector at 215-443-9100 or by email at kvalesky@myhatboro.org, and she will make arrangements to get you one.
