Hatboro-Horsham High School Will Host Its First-Ever Multicultural Carnival
The event, scheduled for April 30, is designed to promote conversations about diversity and inclusion within the suburban school district.
HATBORO-HORSHAM, PA — After a year in which their peers were forced to learn remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students in this Montgomery County school district were finally ready to bring everyone together in-person, and what better way to do this than with a fun-filled event where participants could also showcase their respective backgrounds.
Hatboro-Horsham High School is gearing up for its first-ever Multi-Cultural Carnival later this month, and organizers are getting excited to let the community know about the upcoming program, which they hope will be a first of many.
"We hope that this will be a Hatboro-Horsham High School tradition for many years to come," Mahdia Ahmed, 17, a high school senior, told Patch in an interview.

Ahmed, who is president of the Key Club at the high school, said the carnival is designed to promote conversations about diversity, representation and inclusion within the school district.
The event, which is being sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Ambler, will include a variety of food from various cultures, games such as a teacher dunk tank, fashion displays, interactive programs and displays from the school's various cultural affinity clubs.

"We've had lots of great interest from the student body," Ahmed said.
Proceeds from the carnival will benefit the Kids in Need Foundation, which is a national nonprofit organization that helps to provide supplies and educational resources to underserved schools across the country.
"We thought that this carnival was fitting to fundraise for them," Ahmed said.
Ahmed joked that if nothing else, the student dunk tank should get students' interest, since, well, who wouldn't want to dunk their teacher in a vat of water. '
About 10 teachers have signed up to participate in the dunk tank so far, she said.
"We really got a little bit of everything in this event," Ahmed said.
The Multi-Cultural Carnival will take place on April 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hatboro-Horsham High School stadium, 899 Horsham Road, Horsham.
Tickets will be $5 at the door, and additional food and attraction prices will vary.
The event is open to all members of the community.
