Horsham Planet Smoothie Franchisee Will Match Smoothie Purchases For 'Neighbors In Need'

HORSHAM, PA — Starting on March 20, the first day of spring, anyone who buys a smoothie from the Horsham Planet Smoothie location will see a matching drink donated to a local church's food bank, thanks to a program that the franchise owner started designed to help neighbors in need.

Sherrell Oliver-Riley, who runs the Planet Smoothie in Horsham, announced her 'Neighbors in Need' initiative as the beginning of spring approaches.

Through the initiative, Oliver-Riley will donate vouchers to the St. John's Evangelica Lutheran Church Food Pantry in Hatboro that will enable shoppers at the food pantry to obtain a free, 20-ounce frozen smoothie at the frozen treat business, located at 575 Horsham Road.

Planet Smoothie customers will be able to purchase smoothies for only $3 beginning March 20, and the franchise owner said she will match those purchases during the entire month.

"Everyone I know has struggled for the past two years as a result of Covid-19, and more people than ever are shopping at food pantries now, so I decided to do this to help our neighbors who are hurting," Oliver-Riley said in a statement. "I feel blessed that I've made it through this with my business and acting career intact, and I'm hopeful we can generate a significant number of complimentary smoothies for St. John's Food Pantry shoppers to enjoy."

In addition to being a business owner and mother of two children, Oliver-Riley also works as an actress in theater, television and film.

Planet Smoothie has more than 130 locations across the nation.
