Horsham Emergency Responders Rescue Driver Stranded In Flooded Roadway

Horsham emergency responders had to rescue a driver who was trapped on the hood of their car after being stranded on a flooded roadway.

HORSHAM, PA — Emergency responders had to rescue a driver who was trapped on the roof of their sinking vehicle late Thursday night, and they are chastising the motorist for their likely intentional act of driving into a flooded roadway.

Responders got a call about a stranded motorist Thursday night just after 11 p.m. on Keith Valley Road, according to Horsham Community Police Services.

Upon arrival, units found a person trapped on the roof of their car with water levels rising around them.

While the individual was brought to safety, rescue personnel are warning others to not take a chance and drive into flood waters when roads are submerged.

"We share these photos with you to illustrate what can happen if you chose to drive around road closed barricades," Horsham Community Police Services posted to Facebook. "This vehicle is likely totaled. The driver will need to explain to their insurance carrier why this wasn't an intentional act. As you know insurance typically doesn't cover intentional acts."

But the group didn't stop at the insurance issue.

"Lastly they will have to deal with the reality that their decision not only put their own life in danger, but all those police, ems and fire personnel in the below picture who came to help rescue them," the group posted.

The group reminded drivers to never maneuver around signs or barricades warning of closed and/or flooded roads.

"It's just not worth it," they wrote. "Be safe and always remember we're all in this together."
