Montco Ranked as One of Nation's Healthiest Counties for Kids

U.S. News and World Reports has ranked Montgomery County as one of the healthiest counties in the nation for kids.
The publication ranked the nation’s top 50 healthiest communities for children; Montgomery County ranked 27th.
The rankings assess how health and environmental factors impact the well being of children.

“It highlights counties that feature, among other child-friendly data, fewer infant deaths, fewer low birth weight babies, fewer deaths from injuries, fewer teen births and fewer children in poverty,” according to an explanation of the rankings.
The rankings were done with assistance the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.

Montgomery County was the only community in Pennsylvania that made the list. Several communities in New Jersey, including Hunterdon, Somerset and Bergen counties, made the top 50.
The nation’s healthiest county for children, according to U.S. News and World Reports rankings, is Marin County, Calif.
