Montco Man Charged With 252 Counts Of Felony Child Pornography

LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — An Audubon man has been arrested and is being charged with 252 felony counts of child pornography possession.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office announced Thursday morning that Edward Elvin, 65, is facing numerous child porn charges after detectives say they received a tip that Elvin had emailed suspected images of child pornography back in March.

Montgomery County Detective James Reape, a specially trained investigator who works on child sex crimes, wrote in a criminal complaint that he received a cybertip on April 11 from Apple, via the Delaware County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, that images of suspected child pornography had been emailed between March 5 and 7.

Reape reviewed the images and determined that they were child pornography involving a number of young girls, according to prosecutors.

The criminal complaint outlines the graphic nature of the images, which include various sex acts involving children between the ages of 3 and 12.

County detectives said they traced the IP address related to the email to Elvin's Park Avenue home in the Audubon section of Lower Providence Township and they served a search warrant at the home on April 28, during which they seized Elvin's cellphone.

Detectives said they also conducted an on-scene search of the phone and found images of child pornography.

"One of the videos clearly depicted a child under the age of 13 engaged in indecent contact," Reape wrote. "The other three video files were of minor children in lewd exhibition of their genitalia for the viewer's sexual gratification."

The phone is now expected to be forensically examined to see if it contains any additional images of child porn, prosecutors stated.

Furthermore, Reape wrote in the complaint that a previously executed search warrant at the same home back in October 2020 resulted in the recovery of 7,366 images of child pornography.

The complaint states that Elvin was arrested back in December 2020 and charged with similar child porn counts.

A review of state court records shows that the previous case against Elvin is still pending at Common Pleas Court.

In this most recent case, Elvin was arrested on April 28 and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael P. Quinn.

He was sent to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post $99,000 cash bail.
