Pair from Lower Providence Sentenced for Peddling Drugs in Community

A couple who plead guilty to charges of possession and intent to deliver prescription and illegal drugs from their Lower Providence home.

According to the Times Herald, Alison Marie Napolitano, 32, and her former boyfriend Rene F. Carmona, 31, formerly of the 5000 block of Defford Place in Eagleville, plead guilty in Montgomery County Court for charges of possession with the intent to deliver the prescription painkiller OxyContin in connection with incidents occurring in September 2010.

During the court proceedings, which took place on Monday, the couple was sentenced to six-to-23 months in county jailed, along with two years’ probation.

According to the report, Judge Garrett Page also ordered the couple to undergo drug and alcohol evaluations and any outpatient treatment recommendations. The judge also told Napolitano, who is a mother of three children, one of whom she shares with Carmano, must complete parenting and anger management counseling programs.

The investigations were initiated when Lower Providence Township Police received complaints from neighbors about suspicious activity occurring from the couple’s home. The report further states that detectives from the township and Montgomery County’s Drug Task Force and Narcotics Enforcement Team recovered numerous prescription pills with a street value of $5,000, methamphetamine, marijuana and $5,605 in cash at the couple’s home.

Napolitano’s defense attorney, Henry Hilles III, said that she is determined to turn her life around, and that her drug dealing was to feed her addiction, not to profit.

Napolitano is reported to have acknowledged a substance abuse problem and expressed remorse, adding that she hopes to one day be reunited with her children.

The Times Herlad also reports that the couple allegedly recruited a teenager to peddle some of the prescription drugs, but related charges were dismissed during sentencing hearing.
