Vehicle Flips, Rolls Over Numerous Times During PA Turnpike Crash In Montgomery County

The driver of the vehicle that rolled over numerous times reportedly did not sustain any injuries. Another driver was cited at the scene.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — A man was miraculously uninjured after his vehicle flipped and rolled several times during an afternoon crash this past Sunday on the northeast extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Montgomery County.

The accident took place a little after 2:30 p.m. this past Sunday near mile marker 36.6 on the southbound lanes of Interstate 476 in Salford Township, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

One vehicle attempted to merge from the left lane to the center lane and ended up striking another vehicle that was already occupying the middle lane, according to a police report.

The driver of the second vehicle then lost control, causing his vehicle to flip and roll over several times before striking a guardrail along the shoulder of the highway.

The vehicle ultimately came to rest on its roof in the right lane of the roadway, according to police.

State Police said that while the second vehicle was completely damaged, the driver was actually uninjured, although the drivers of both vehicles were checked out at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

The driver of the first vehicle is from Cumberland County and the driver of the vehicle that flipped is from Lehigh County, according to police.

The police report indicated that both of the drivers involved were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the accident was issued a summons for following too closely.
