Blasting Continues, Animals at the Library Tuesday in Marple Newtown

  • Noise: More "blasting" at the Muirwood Townhomes is expected around the 200 block of S. Newtown Street Road. Blasting is expected to continue through Wednesday, July 31.
  • Fun: Animal Encounter at Newtown Library at 2 p.m. on July 30. Meet an owl, a turtle, some snakes and more. Event is free but registration required. Sign up at the library or call 610-353-1022.

  • Traffic: Check on your commute on the PennDOT traffic cameras before you leave the house. But the traffic will likely be terrible—it's traffic.
  • Donate: American Red Cross Blood Drive on July 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Swarthmore College, 500 College Avenue in Swarthmore
  • Weather: The forecast calls for temperatures to reach the mid-80s with mostly sunny skies. Things are expected to cool down in the evening. 
  • History: Per the History Channel, on this day in 1999, theBlair Witch Project movie was released and in 1976 Brucer Jenner won gold in the decathlon at the Montreal Olympics.
