Delco Police Commissioner Resigns After Hit-And-Run: Authorities
Not long after Chester officials said Police Commissioner Steven Gretsky was placed on leave, he announced his retirement.
CHESTER, PA —A Delaware County municipal police leader has announced his retirement Tuesday as authorities said they filed charges against him Wednesday morning in connection with a hit-and-run.
Chester Police Commissioner Steven Gretsky retired at the end of the day Tuesday.
Chester officials Tuesday morning said he was placed on leave while a "traffic incident" was investigated.

Pennsylvania State Police later Tuesday said Gretsky, while driving a police vehicle, collided with an unattended delivery vehicle near East 22nd and Hyatt street in Chester just after midnight Monday
Authorities said Gretsky drove from the scene without providing personal or insurance information.

No one was hurt in the crash, police said.
Gretsky has been charged with reckless driving, careless driving, failure to render aid or give information, accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle, and driving at unsafe speeds, state police said.
Then at 2:18 p.m. Tuesday, the city announced Gretsky's plan to retire at the end of the day Tuesday.
Chester Police Major Katrina Blackwell will serve as interim commissioner while a search is conducted.
"The City thanks Commissioner Gretsky for his service to the residents of Chester," officials said in the retirement announcement.
