Towing Company Cleans Up After Rain at U.S. Open

A Havertown Towing company was busy on Monday after non-stop rain created mud bogs of grassy fields at the U.S. Open.

Philadelphia Business Journal reports that Mike Mardinly, owner of Bob & Joe's Towing in Havertown, "had 18 tow trucks working the USGA-designated parking areas — including Rose Tree Park in Media and the Polo Field in Bryn Mawr — that Monday’s torrential rains turned into quagmires. And other sites were a muddy mess."

The Rose Tree Park (RED Lot) in Media is closed to general spectators until further notice, reads a press release from Monday afternoon. The lot remained closed on Tuesday.

The newspaper writes: “The mud was 6 to 8 inches deep. We pulled out [PGA golfer] Rory Sabbatini’s motor home. We pulled out two-wheel-drive [cars], four-wheel-drive. Our own trucks got stuck and we pulled those out with other trucks,” said Mardinly, whose company was contracted by the USGA to handle illegal parking and other towing needs.
