Coraopolis Couple Stole $1 Million From Relative's Business: DA

A Coraopolis business owner was the victim of a theft of more than $1 million by his father and stepmother, authorities said.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A Coraopolis couple stole more than $1 million from a Coraopolis business owned by a family member, authorities said.

Joseph and Tasha Ravas took the money from PNP Heating and Air Conditioning via 66 checks payable to cash, Joseph or Tasha Ravas, Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala said. The business is owned by Chris Ravas, who is the son of Joseph Ravas and the stepson of Tina Ravas.

According to a news release, Chris Ravas told investigators that his father purchased a home in Mexico for $1.2 million; Tasha and Joseph gave themselves salary increases; put a $400,000 addition on their home and went to restaurants and grocery stores.

The misuse of company Monday totaled more than $1 million, according to Zappala.

“My sincerest condolences go out to the victim and his business,” he said.

“Running a business is not an easy thing today, let alone to find out someone has been stealing from you. We take these kind of cases with the utmost seriousness.”

Joseph and Tasha both are charged with receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy, theft by unlawful taking and access device fraud. Denied bail because they are considered flight risks, both are being housed in the county jail.
