MOON TOWNSHIP, PA — Another firearm has been seized at a Pittsburgh International Airport security checkpoint. Transportation Security Administration officials intercepted a .45 caliber handgun loaded with 10 bullets in the carry-on bag of a man from Kansas, agency officials announced on Monday.

It was the 25th firearm confiscated at the airport this year, keeping the seizures on pace to match or exceed the record number of 44 set last year.

“I don’t know how many times we have to continue to remind firearm owners that they should not bring their guns to our checkpoints, but what I can tell you is that we will continue to do so while educating travelers on the proper way a firearm needs to be packed for transport on a flight,” Karen Keys-Turner, TSA’s federal security director for the airport, stated in a release.
