ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, PA — The future of Red Lobster's Robinson and other Pittsburgh area locations are in doubt after the popular seafood restaurant chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Red Lobster currently has 578 restaurants in 44 states and Canada. But the company unveiled a plan in its bankruptcy filing Sunday that would dramatically reduce that number.

The bankruptcy filing comes after Red Lobster abruptly closed 93 of its eateries on May 13. The chain has asked the court to reject 108 of its existing leases to further slim down the restaurant's footprint.
