Robinson Police Handle Four DUI Incidents

Those charged face hearings before District Judge Carla Swearingen in district court.

Robinson Township police filed charges against four people for driving under the influence in late April:

  • Steven Anderson, 47, of Delaware, OH faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and traffic control signals, steady red indication filed by police. On April 30 at 7:02 p.m., an officer on patrol saw a car driving by Anderson traveling at a high rate of speed on Steubenville Pike, passing through a solid red light at the intersection of Church Hill Road. A police officer detected a moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage on Anderson's breath. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Ohio Valley Hospital for a blood test. He faces a preliminary hearing before District Judge Carla Swearingen at 10 a.m. June 18.
  • Christopher Marnik, 33, of Robinson Township is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, public drunkenness, unattended motor vehicle and immediate notice of accident to police department after an incident about 7:02 p.m. April 30. A police officer on patrol saw a vehicle with the emergency flashers on near Holy Trinity Church on Steubenville Pike. The vehicle had a flat tire with the wheel unattached, the passenger side mirror was hanging and there was passenger-side damage consistent with hitting a guard rail, according to a police report. Marnik, the driver, was having a hard time keeping his balance, slurred speech and had a strong odor of alcohol. Police reported he was behaving aggressively. Police did not conduct field sobriety tests and Marnik refused a blood test at Ohio Valley Hospital. He faces a preliminary hearing in district court at 10 a.m. June 18.
  • Lisa L. Barthelemy, 41, of Kennedy Township is charged with an accident involving damage to an attended vehicle, accidents involving death or personal injury, driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, and driving on the right side of the roadway after an accident that occurred at 8:47 p.m. April 25 at the intersection of Clever and Aiken roads on the Robinson-Kennedy township line. Robinson police detected a strong odor of alcohol on her. She failed field sobriety tests and a preliminary breath test was positive for alcohol. Barthelemy was taken to Ohio Valley Hospital for a blood test. After Robinson police did the preliminary work, police determined that the accident actually took place in Kennedy Township. She faces a preliminary hearing before District Judge Mary A. Cercone on at 9 a.m. on June 25.
  • Kristen Ashley Owens, 23, of Kennedy Township faces two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, and one count each of prohibited acts-possession, careless driving, accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle and immediate notice of accident to police department. A Robinson police officer observed a truck she was driving with moderate front-end damage making a grinding sound and leaking fluid near the intersection of Coraopolis Road and Station Street at 1:38 a.m. April 19. Owens admitted to striking a guard rail as she tried to turn onto I-79 North. The officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol on Owens, as well as that she had an unsteady gait, and bloodshot and glassy eyes. When she put her purse on the car bumper, the officer noticed two unlabeled pill bottles with numerous pills inside. Police noted, among the pills in her possession, she had four Alprazolam, 15 hydroxyzine pamoate, 48 amitriptyline hydrochloride and 23 that were unidentified. Owens failed a field sobriety test. She faces a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. June 4 in district court.
