Council Rock North Voice To Compete In B101 Christmas Choir Competition

Public voting will be taking place all day on Wednesday as the choir vies for a spot in the finals on Thursday.

NEWTOWN, PA — The Council Rock High School North Voice will compete in the semifinal round of the B101 Christmas Choir competition on Wednesday, Dec. 10, when public voting could be the key to advancing the choir to the final round on Thursday.

During the 7 a.m. hour on Wednesday, tune to B101 to hear the NorthVoice performing "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch." They will be competing against the Pottsgrove Chamber Choir singing "Making Christmas" and Woodstown Chamber Choir performing "Winter Wonderland." You can also hear the choirs at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Open public voting on the B101 website begins after all three choirs are announced during the 7 a.m. hour on Wednesday. Voting will then continue throughout the day until 9 p.m. There is no limit on the number of votes per listener.

The three winners from the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday semifinals will then advance to the finals on Thursday with the winners of the high school competition announced on Friday morning.

First-place winners in the high school division will have their choir's song featured on B101 throughout the holiday season and their school's music program will win a cash prize of $5,000. In addition, the choirs will be invited to perform their winning song during the Philly Pops: A Philly Holiday Spectacular on Sunday, Dec. 14.

The schools will also receive tickets to enjoy the show before and after their performances. The choirs will also be recognized at the Trans-Siberian Orchestra - The Ghosts of Christmas Eve concert on Dec. 21.

Second-place winners in each division will receive a $2,000 cash prize and third prize winners receive a $1,000 cash prize, all to benefit their school's music programs.
