Grace Shares Her Heart With The Community As A Star Student

NEWTOWN, PA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Dianna who nominated her daughter, Grace, a 9th grader from Newtown.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Grace just knows how to do the right thing. She's been active in volunteering since she was 8. She worked with the Bucks County Sheriff's Department on a toy drive, organized her own coat collection with more than 150 coats distributed by her in Kensington over Christmas, has volunteered for an animal rescue doing hours and hours of labor selling merchandise, and has volunteered with a recovery program in Bristol for years.

Grace recently donated all of her Christmas money to Project Home Again in MA. She's been in across the board Honors classes for a few years making straight A's . She has a ton of respect for her teachers and loves to learn. She's been talking about college since she asked me what the word was when she was four.

She has always been incredibly wise beyond her years but also knows how to apply her learning. She's absolutely confident in herself and loves to help other people be the best that they can be. She's a true leader and her dad and I could not be more proud!

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Grace values respect and treats others how they would want to be treated. All of the things that she does she does for her heart and the hearts of others, not for social media or any attention. I didn't think she would allow me to send this, but she has of course. No pictures was a rule.)
