Snow Emergencies Declared In Newtown Borough And Newtown Township

Both municipalities have announced parking restrictions to allow for safe snowplowing operations.

NEWTOWN, PA — Newtown Borough and Newtown Township have declared snow emergencies.

Newtown Borough

  • The snow emergency is in effect from 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13 until Sunday, Dec. 14 at 12 p.m. During a snow emergency, parking is prohibited on the borough’s designated snow emergency routes. Parked cars should be removed to allow for snowplowing operations. Depending on conditions, the snow emergency may be reduced or extended.

  • The snow emergency is in effect from 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13 until Sunday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. Under this emergency, "It shall be unlawful to park, or to allow to be parked, any motor vehicle on any road or street within the township following accumulation of ice or snow of one inch or greater, in depth, until the snow has been completely plowed for the full width of the cartway." Dependent upon conditions, the snow emergency may be extended. Residents are asked not to park on roads so that the Newtown Township Department of Public Works can safely and efficiently clear the snow.
