NEWTOWN, PA — The Newtown Business Association is partnering with Jim Worthington to pull out all the stops this year to welcome Santa to town.

Thanks to the sponsorship of Worthington and the Newtown Athletic Club and numerous other community contributors, this year's Newtown Holiday Parade will be "jam-packed" with community groups, musicians and special guests, all aimed at celebrating the holiday season in a very big way.

"Bundle up, grab a spot early, and join us for Newtown's favorite holiday celebration on Sunday, Dec. 7," said Worthington. "Let’s usher in the holiday season together — bring your laughter, your love of movies, and your community spirit. We look forward to seeing you in downtown Newtown!"

The parade will feature a Classic Holiday Movies theme and everyone is encouraged come dressed up as their favorite classic holiday movie character - think Buddy the Elf, Kevin McCallister from Home Alone, the Grinch, Ralphie, Frosty, and Cindy Lou Who.

Visitors and parade participants are asked not to dress like Santa. "There's only one Santa, and he'll be arriving in grand style at the end of the parade," organizers said.

At 12 p.m., the parade kicks off at the intersection of Sycamore Street and Washington Avenue. Justin Guarini, the first runner-up on the first season of American Idol, will open the festivities with the singing of the National Anthem.

Following Guarini's performance, the parade's first unit will step off from the intersection and head north on Sycamore to Durham Road. Featured will be the majestic horses from A Better Way Belgians in Wrightstown, carolers, color guard, community performers, and plenty of holiday cheer.

At 12:30 p.m., the second half of the parade will step off from the Stocking Works on South State Street in Newtown Borough. The parade will head north on State Street to Washington, turn west on Washington to Sycamore and then head north on Sycamore to Durham Road.

To view the full parade lineup, organizers suggest finding a spot on North Sycamore Street between Washington Avenue and Goodnoe Corners.
