Newtown Man Defrauded Of $3,600 On Craigslist: Police Log

NEWTOWN, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department responded to numerous incidents over the past week, between May 6 and May 12.

11:45 a.m. — A Newtown resident contacted police to report a theft. The value lost was more than $200.
4:15 p.m. — A Newtown resident contacted police to report fraud. He said he was selling furniture on Craigslist and had received a fraudulent check. The resident cashed the check before realizing that it was fraudulent, and the total value lost was $3,600.

Saturday, May 7
10 p.m. — Police stopped a white Jeep Cherokee for a vehicle code violation on North Sycamore Street. The officer smelled alcohol while talking with the driver. The driver couldn't satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
11:15 p.m. — Police stopped a white BMW for a vehicle code violation on the Newtown Bypass near Newtown Gate Drive. On contact with the driver, the officer smelled alcohol. The driver couldn't satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results
Sunday, May 8
3 a.m. — Police stopped the driver of a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck for a vehicle code violation on the Newtown Bypass at South Sycamore Street. On contact with the driver, the officer smelled alcohol. The driver couldn't satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests and was arrested for suspected driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
