Santa Drops In For Pre-Holiday Trim At Newtown Barber Shop
After freshening up for the big holiday weekend ahead, he tried his hand at barbering at Bowen's Barber Shop.

NEWTOWN, PA — Santa made a pre-holiday stop this week in Newtown, surprising everyone as a walk-in customer at Bowen's Barber Shop at the Newtown Depot Shopping Center.
With Mrs. Claus bugging him to get a trim and a busy weekend ahead of special appearances, Santa stopped by for a cut and trim as youngsters inside the shop couldn’t believe their eyes - or their luck - to be in the same room with the man with all the toys.
“I happened to have a little boy in my chair when he came through the front door,” said owner Tracey Bowen. “He was shocked. It was so cute to watch his reaction. He had this stunned look like, ‘I can’t believe Santa comes to the same barber shop.’”

Making the moment even more magical, Bowen said Santa asked if he could help cut the boy’s hair.
“The little boy said, ‘Sure you can, Santa.’ It was so darn cute. His mom was there and the boy looked up at her and said, ‘Mom. Santa’s cutting my hair.’ You can imagine. For that boy, it was like a dream come true,” said Bowen.

But it wasn’t just the young who were reveling in Santa’s visit.
“We had some older clients in there and some younger clients. And everyone wanted to talk with Santa,” said Bowen. “It shows that you’re never too old for Santa. Santa lives in all of us. And it was just really awesome to see. Everyone wanted to interact with him. It just put everyone in a great mood.”
It was then time for Santa’s turn in the chair, asking Bowen for a cut and a trim. Bowen was happy to oblige, giving Santa a fresh, clean look for the busy holiday season ahead and for his big Christmas Eve ride coming up later this month.
“He took his hat off and sat down and I put a comb and my scissors to his long, curly hair and beard ... I groomed him and freshened him up. I think Mrs. Claus is going to be pleased.”
After his cut, Bowen reports that Santa got in on some of the hair-cutting action, taking a few quick lessons from the barbers before trying it himself.
“He combed some hair. He used some product, and he very handily used the hairdryer. He was really into it and having fun. He was even grooming one of our barbers,” she laughed.
In between cuts, Bowen said he managed to polish off a plate of homemade cookies.
“It was a great way to spread some holiday cheer and start the season off in a fun, magical way,” said Bowen of Santa's visit.
