UPDATE: 6 Dead In Montgomery County Shooting Spree; Suspect Identified

Bradley William Stone, 35, killed six people and seriously wounded another during a multi-scene shooting spree Monday, authorities said.

LANSDALE, Pa. - At least six people were killed Monday in a multi-scene shooting spree in Montgomery County, authorities said, and the gunman is still on the loose. He has been identified as Bradley William Stone, 35, of Pennsburg.

Montgomery County law enforcement authorities identified Stone after an hours-long search for him came up empty. All victims are related to Stone in some way, the Montgomery County District Attorney said.

Police are conducting an “extensive search” in and around Pennsburg. People in the area should remain indoors, keep their doors locked and call 911 if they think they have seen the suspect, the district attorney said.

According to NBC10, SWAT units surrounding a home in Pennsburg fired gas canisters and broke down a garage door around 1:30 p.m., but the suspect has not yet been located.

The gunman in the Montgomery County shootings, described as a military veteran, was thought to have been barricaded inside a home at Franklin and Garfield streets in Souderton, according to 6 ABC Action News. More recent information from police indicates the shooter is still at large.

Police have not named the victims. According to the Morning Call, one of the victims is believed to be the shooter’s ex-wife.

A spokeswoman with the Lower Salford police told the Morning Call thatthe first shooting occurred at about 4 a.m. in Lower Stalford, where a woman was found shot to death in the 100 block of Main Street.

A neighbor in the Pheasant Run apartment complex in Lower Salford told the Intelligencer she could hear children screaming, “’Leave me alone, I want my mom” during the time of the gunshots.

The second shooting happened about a half-hour later in the 100 block of West 5th Street in Lansdale, the Morning Call reported. Two people were shot and killed at that location, according to the Action News report.

As police investigated the first two shootings, they were dispatched to the Souderton location where two people were found dead, according to reports.

In Souderton, a loud bang was heard in a house that had been surrounded by police shortly before noon, The Intelligencer said. A person who has not been identified was seen taken away by ambulance shortly after the noise, according to the report.

Pennsburg police are responding to a fourth crime scene believed to be linked to the shootings, according to Action News. Authorities have not reported if any more victims have been located in Pennsburg.

Some area schools have been placed on lockdown as a result of the police activity. All Pennridge schools were placed on lock down, officials announced.

Dismissal has been delayed at Upper Perkiomen Schools. According to an announcement on the district’s website, students will not be released until clearance has been given by law enforcement authorities.

A ”shelter in place” that was in effect at Souderton Area School District was lifted at 10:45 a.m., the district said on its website.

North Penn schools are not on lockdown. “The North Penn School District has been in contact with law enforcement and we have been advised that a lock out at any of our buildings is NOT necessary. We will continue to monitor the situation throughout the day,” North Penn School District said on its website.
