Norristown Man Killed While Snowboarding In Washington
Nearly $15,000 has been raised by the local community to support the family of the 27-year-old man.
NORRISTOWN, PA — A local family is grieving after a 27-year-old Norristown man was killed while snowboarding in Washington.
The incident occurred on Thursday, Jan. 8.
Marco Perez, 27, was skiing at Stevens Pass in Skyomish, about 80 miles from Washington, when he crashed headfirst into an obscured creek bed, according to friends and the King County sheriff’s office.

Perez's friends attempted to pull him out from the deep snow, and ski patrol attempted lifesaving efforts, but Perez did not survive.
A GoFundMe has been launched to help the family bring Perez's body home and plan for an unexpected funeral. The response has been quick and overwhelming, with more than $14,500 raised as of Tuesday morning from 320 donors.

"We are looking for funds to bring his body home so we may say our goodbyes. A little goes a long way," wrote Mayling Canals, a family member who launched the fundraiser. "Thank you to everyone who has contributed. Please know it means a lot to us. Thank you and God bless."
