When/Where: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Dec. 1 at Soergel's Orchards. Â

Why Go: Bring your camera and the family for a fun day. Get a picture on the decorated sleigh for free or ride the Snowflake Express. There will be face painting, crafts for kids, a bounce house and spin art. Night time festival fun begins at 6 p.m. and includes ice carving, trains, horse-drawn carriage rides and an appearance by Santa. From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Amish doughnuts, hot coffee, hot spiced cider and hot chocolate will be available.
Admission:Â $2 to $5 for some crafts and rides.Â

2. Western Pennsylvania Model Railroad Museum
When/Where: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 2 at the corner of Route 910 and Lakeside Drive in Gibsonia.
Why Go: The 25th annual holiday train show highlights the massive Mon-Valley system that ran from Pittsburgh to Cumberland, MD, back in 1952.Â
Admission:Â $6 donation for adults and $4 for children under 12.Â

When/Where:Â 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 Â at Heinz Field, Pittsburgh.
Why Go: Take a quick dip in the river to raise funds for Special Olympics Pennsylvania. If jumping into icy cold water is really not your thing, you can still participate and show your support by making a pledge to a braver soul.Â
Admission: $50 minimum donation. Day of registrations will be accepted. Â

4. Christmas in the Country at Reilly's
When/Where: 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. today, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 2 see Santa at Reilly's Summer Seat Farms, Ohio Township.Â
Why Go: A live Nativity scene, a cheery bonfire, marshmallow roasting, hot chocolate and hayrides and pictures with Santa. If you're not looking for Santa, hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Admission:Â Free.Â

5. Holiday Open House
When/Where: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 at 213 Quaker Road in Edgeworth.Â
Why Go: The Edgeworth Garden Club is hosting a Holiday Open House. The Sewickley area home will be filled with antique Americana ornaments and Santas. Event includes holiday raffle baskets and baked goods, cider and cookies.Â
Admission:Â $10 donation.
