Get Out: Three Rivers Winter Ensemble, Chef Martin Yan and 'Whispers of Light'

When/Where: 2 p.m. today, Feb. 23 at Marshall Middle School, 5145 Wexford Run Road.

Why Go: North Allegheny Indoor Percussion and North Allegheny Winter Guard, together with the NADBP, are hosting the Three Rivers Winter Ensemble Association show. There will be 40 units performing, including NA's own Indoor Percussion and Winter Guard groups. Wear purple to the North Allegheny show to support Kayla Conroy of the North Allegheny Color Guard.

Admission: $8 adults and $6 for students and seniors. Doors open at 1 p.m.

 

Chef Martin Yan

When/Where: 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Market District store in Wexford (Pine Township).

Why Go: The celebrated Chinese master chef, host of more than 3,000 cooking shows and author of 30 cookbooks will conduct food demonstrations.

'Whispers of Light: A Story of Hope'

When/Where: 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Byham Theater in Pittsburgh.

Why Go: This is the premiere of Maria Caruso’s new ballet Whispers of Light. Caruso is the chairwoman of the La Roche College Performing Arts Department and two dance majors will be performing in the show. The ballet focuses on raising awareness about Highmark’s Caring Place and has an original score by Nancy Galbraith.

The Collision

When/Where: 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Moon Run Fire Hall, 5624 Steubenville Pike in Robinson Township. 

Why Go:  The classic rock concert fundraiser featuring The Collision is part of the Robinson Township EMS capital campaign to replace aging equipment

Trio Verlaine

When/Where: 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 at St. James Church, 200 Walnut St., Sewickley. 

Why Go: Trio Verlaine consists of the principal flute of the Pittsburgh Symphony, principal harp with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and a violist who teaches at Carnegie Mellon University. Enjoy a 2:30 p.m. pre-concert by Debbie Silverstein, directing the Beaver County Flute Choirs.
