Listen: 'Pittsburgh's Stevie Wonder' Performs Holiday Songs

Blind from birth, prodigy Shailen Abram came into the world at a mere 1 pound 9 ounces.

"Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell Rock!"

That's one of the songs prodigy Shailen Abram sang when he visited West Penn Hospital for a holiday party in early December and raised awareness for families of premature infants.

When Shailen Abram was born 15 years ago, he was a mere 1 pound 9 ounces in Allegheny General Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, now housed at West Penn Hospital.

Completely blind in his left eye and with limited vision in his right, Shailen went home to an uncertain future. But before he was even a year old, Shailen’s mother saw he had a precocious musical talent.

At 15 he displays dazzling piano virtuosity and received a “Yes I Can” award from the Council on Exceptional Children in Washington, D.C.
