North Hills Junior High Musical Offers Free Senior Citizen Matinee

"We are pleased to offer a chance for seniors to come and see our final dress rehearsal before opening night," Director Shaun Cloonan said.

The will present a senior citizen matinee for its production of “Annie Junior.”

This special preview performance will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, in the junior high auditorium, 55 Rochester Road in Ross Township. Admission is Free and open to North Hills residents age 60 or older.

Students will perform as much of the show as they can, beginning at 1 p.m. and ending at 2:30 p.m. so they can load the buses to go home on time.

The show premieres for the general community later that evening.

There are three shows scheduled for the general community: Thursday, Jan. 26; Friday, Jan. 27; and, Saturday, Jan. 28.  All shows begin at 7 p.m. in the North Hills Junior High auditorium. 

The cost is $3 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens. Tickets can be reserved by calling the box office at 412-318-1469 or purchased in person at the district’s Athletics & Activities Office, located in the senior high school, from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

Additionally, tickets will be sold from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, in the junior high auditorium lobby and beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the evening of each performance. 

Auditorium doors open at 6:30 p.m. for seating. All attendees are asked to use the library entrance. 

About the musical: 

The popular comic strip heroine takes center-stage in one of the world's best-loved musicals.  Annie is a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan.

In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and finds a new family and home in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
