Tree Falls on Home along Sewickley Oakmont Road

No one was injured in the Saturday morning incident. Emergency personnel aren't sure what caused the tree to fall.

A tree that fell on a home at 157 Sewickley Oakmont Road at about 2 a.m. Saturday caused minimal structural damage, and the home was declared safe for the homeowners to return to, said Chief Eric Wissner.

The tree was about 3 feet in diameter. The top 30 feet of the tree broke off and went through the roof and into a bathroom, he said.

The homeowners were next door, visiting neighbors, at the time of the incident.

"We're not exactly sure what caused the tree to fall," Wissner said.

The emergency crew helped secure the home, but left the tree in place for the insurance company to evaluate.
