Humble Pie: Teachers, Students Take Part in Fundraiser

It's Pie a Teacher Day at Perkiomen Valley High School

teachers and administrators stepped up to the pie plate Thursday afternoon, May 10, for the Pie a Teacher fundraiser.

The school's Key Club is raising money to participate in the Relay for Life at Pottsgrove High School next month. So far, the club has raised nearly $400 for the Relay, with more than $50 coming from Pie a Teacher Day.

While the adults were cooperative, often managing a smile, some of the students were downright gleeful as they heaved whipped-cream-and-chocolate-sauce mountains toward the authority figures.

"If this (event) was every day, I'd love coming to school," said ninth grader Dreya Montgomery, who speculated she paid about $20 to participate in the "pie-ing."

"Best money I ever spent," she exclaimed, while agreeing that the teachers deserved props for being good sports for a good cause.
