Police: Aggravated Assault Case in Trappe

An incident report does not signify a conviction. All accused are innocent until proven guilty.

Mauro Casa-Hernandez, accused of beating a woman and preventing her from seeking help, is being held in Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.

According to a Pennsylvania State Police report, Casa-Hernandez repeatedly struck the 22-year-old woman about the face, causing was later “diagnosed as possible traumatic retinal detachment to the left eye, possible orbital fracture to the left eye and subconjunctival hemorrhage to the left eye.”

Casa-Hernandez allegedly “continued to beat (the woman) into submission as she attempted to call for help and (he) restrained her from doing so.” He reportedly used threats and intimidation – including threats of further violence – to prevent the woman from notifying police.

The incident occurred April 22, and police said Casa-Hernandez kept the woman under “constant vigilance” until she was able to flee the Trappe apartment on May 4.

She was admitted to Paoli Memorial Hospital that evening and place under a possible suicide watch, the report states.

The woman, with the assistance of the Phoenixville Healthcare Access Foundation, reported the incident to Pennsylvania State Police.
Casa-Hernandez was arrested without incident May 4.
