The Goddard School Donates to The Nottage Project

Students raised money and purchased books for the Collegeville-based charity.

recently hosted its spring Scholastic Book Fair.  The Scholastic Book Fair strives to promote literacy and one way they do this is through the One for Books program.  Scholastic matches the monetary donations that schools generate, with a donation of up to one million books to three national non-profit organizations dedicated to helping kids and families in need: Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc., the Kids In Need Foundation, and the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.

The students at The Goddard School in Schwenksville participated in a classroom coin challenge during their week long book fair.  The students raised $101 from their loose change challenge!  Scholastic in turn donated 101 books to children in need.  The Goddard School chose to use the money they collected to purchase books for the local charity, The Nottage Project.

The Nottage Project supports and enhances local services provided to those experiencing difficult times. Through targeted and customized campaigns, they provide opportunities for easy and uncomplicated giving. Their mission is to provide simple ways to engage communities in giving back to support those in need. Their vision is one where all people are aware, engaged and actively responding to the needs of their communities. The Nottage Project is currently working to collect books to create literacy areas in local shelters.

The Goddard School started partnering with the Nottage Project in January and they are looking forward to collecting quality, gently used clothes to donate to the Nottage project during the Goddard School Spring Fling on May 5.
