Peters Hires Piccinini as Varsity Football Head Coach

The school board voted 8-1 to hire Piccinini.

The search is on no longer for a high school head football coach. The school board voted 8-1 Tuesday night to hire Upper St. Clair assistant football coach Richard L. Piccinini to lead Peters varsity football.

Dr. Mark Buzzatto voted against the hire.

A 25-minute executive session occurred as board member Cindy Golembiewski called for a closed personnel meeting. Following the session, the school board added the scheduling for a vote to the regular meeting agenda.

Superintendent Dr. Nina Zetty said the administration had been interviewing for weeks, up until Presidents Day. After being questioned by a resident of Piccinini's qualifications, Solicitor Jack Cambest declined to answer. Earlier in the meeting he explained to the same resident the board could not discuss the person, rather the process. He explained the board is permitted to adjust the agenda without prior notice of the meeting.

Piccinini replaces Nick Milchovich, a district math teacher, who coached Peters varsity football for four years.
