$941K Route 23 Upgrade Are Underway In Phoenixville

Motorists are asked to use caution when driving through the intersection of Nutt Road and Starr Street.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Construction began Monday on a $941,319 project to improve mobility and safety at Route 23 (Nutt Road) and Starr Street intersection in Phoenixville.

Crews will be working from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, June 19, to Friday, June 30, according to PennDOT officials. There will be periodic lane closures.

A dedicated left-turn lane from eastbound Route 23 to Starr Street will be constructed to increase traffic flow and improve congestion.

In addition, westbound Route 23 will be widened at the intersection to provide space for a new right-turn lane onto Starr Street.

Additional upgrades include modernized traffic signals and ADA curb ramps; new pavement markings; a bus stop concrete pad; and milling and resurfacing of the roadway.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled work is weather dependent.

Marino Corporation of Skippack, Montgomery County, is the general contractor for the federally funded project.
