Upper Providence Little League Are Mid-Atlantic Regional Champs

A second win over Toms River East on Saturday earned Upper Providence Little League the regional title as they head into the World Series.

UPPER PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP, PA — Upper Providence Little League continued a streak that made them now the Mid-Atlantic Regional Champions, with a second victory over Toms River East Little League on Saturday, when Upper Providence won 10-3 over Toms River at Breen Field in Bristol, Conn.

The UP Little League team became Pennsylvania State Champions in July and staked out a place in the World Series when they won a third regional game 6-1 Thursday against Toms River East.

In Saturday's game, Upper Providence LL was down 3-2 in the top of the fourth inning when Tommy Sergio doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring two runs, GameChanger reported.

Sam Buckley pitched more than four innings, striking out 11 opponents in Saturday's Mid-Atlantic championship game.

The Little League World Series 2021 is scheduled for Aug. 19-29 at Lamade Stadium in Williamsport, Pa.
