Allegheny Co. Property Tax Bills Have Wrong Payment Deadlines

Get the correct Allegheny County property tax payment deadlines here.

PITTSBURGH, PA — All Allegheny County property tax bills should be in the mail Friday, but they will be arriving with incorrect information regarding when the tax payment is due.

When the bills were printed, they listed three dates. A 2 percent discount would be applied if the taxes were paid by March 31. The payment deadline was April 30. The delinquent tax period was to begin June 1, with a one-time penalty of 5 percent of the taxes due with 1 percent interest added for each month the taxes are delinquent.

However, county council on Tuesday voted to extend the 2 percent discount period to April 30 and the gross tax payment deadline to May 31. The delinquent tax period now begins on June 1.

Most taxpayers will not receive a paper receipt after paying their taxes this year. In a cost-saving measure by county Treasurer Erica Rocchi Brusselars, taxpayers will be able to access their receipts online. People who need a physical receipt can obtain one by calling the treasurer's office.
