Another candidate is looking to unseat Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey. Get the details here.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pittsburgh mayoral candidate field is getting more crowded.
Tony Moreno held a news conference scheduled for Friday in Brighton Heights to announce his candidacy.
Moreno, 54, a retired city police officer, ran for mayor in 2021 and lost in the Democratic primary to Ed Gainey. He then ran as a Republican in the general election and was defeated by Gainey again.

Moreno plans to run again as a Republican. He has an uphill battle ahead, as Democrats have an overwhelming 5-1 registration edge in the city. Pittsburgh's last Republican mayor, John S. Herron, left office in 1934.
Gainey is seeking a second term as mayor. He faces a challenge in the Democratic primary from Allegheny County Controller Corey O'Connor, the son of former Pittsburgh Mayor Bob O'Connor.
