CO Detectors Disabled In Pittsburgh-Area Home Where 3 Died
Carbon monoxide detectors were not functional in the residence where three people were found dead Tuesday.
BUTLER, PA — The home in which three people died Tuesday from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning had detectors for the colorless and odorless gas but they were disabled, Butler City police said Thursday.
Police were summoned to a College Street residence Tuesday night, where they found three people dead. Two others were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition.
According to police, extremely high levels of carbon monoxide were detected inside the home. They did not indicate what caused the high levels or provide information on how the detectors became disabled.

The victims were identified Thursday as Thomas Reges, 62, Wendy Schettig, 48, and Jimmy Anderson, 69. Reges and Schettig were from Butler and Anderson was from Virginia.
