Consumer Alert Leveled On Popular Pittsburgh Restaurant

What the Allegheny County Health Department found at this restaurant likely won't do much for your appetite.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for Mintt Indian Cuisine, on Banksville Road in Banksville, for numerous health code violations.

During a Dec. 3 inspection, a large concentration of roach activity was detected in the warewashing room, against the back wall where the dishware is stored and dried. Too many to count roach droppings were observed at the ceiling wall juncture.

A live roach was found on a stored wok. Live roaches scurried beneath a piece of drywall
on the floor. An adult roach was roach was observed on oven mitt by the cookline. Two juvenile roaches were found within a clean silverware organizer on forks and on napkins. Several juvenile roaches were observed within a metal container that holds knives in the bakery area. Live roaches were found beneath freezers by the expo station along the wall.

Dead roaches were observed on a dry storage shelf at the expo station, within light panel covers on the ceiling in the warewashing room, on the floor at the cookline, warewashing room, unused restroom/chemical storage area, and at the buffet station and in all areas of the restaurant.

Many cans of Raid roach and ant treatment were observed in the kitchen.

A restaurant with a consumer alert placard is allowed to operate for a temporary period not exceeding 10 days. Another inspection is conducted either prior to the expiration of the temporary period upon request of the eatery owner or on the tenth day.

If the problems are not corrected, the eatery can be ordered to close.
